The pharmacist appointed will be a member of the team providing a pharmaceutical service to Western Health and Social Care Trust. He/she will work as the Procurement Technology and Pharmaceutical Clinical Effectiveness Pharmacist, ensuring this is carried out in line with good procurement practice and national developments in medicine management related technology. Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal Pharmacist for Procurement and Patient Services in managing and monitoring the procurement of pharmaceuticals for the Trust and ensure safe, efficient and economic systems
- Assist the Principal Pharmacist for Procurement and Patient Services and Senior Pharmacy Management Team in the identification and implementation of initiatives to reduce expenditure on medical and surgical disposables
- Monitor expenditure on pharmaceuticals in the Trust and actively promote a rational and economical approach to medicines use
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 years post-registration experience in pharmacy which must include 2 years of experience at band 7 or in community pharmacy management
- M Pharm or equivalent qualification MPSNI or eligible to register
- A postgraduate qualification to at least diploma level in a pharmaceutical, health-related or management discipline
