Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist Band 8a


Job description

Applications will be considered from those qualified to apply for an 8A position as specified, and those that are already currently working in a Band 7 position who do not meet criteria for the 8a position/or are due to qualify this year with a Doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society, qualifying the person to work as a Registered Practitioner Psychologist. A Preceptorship Programme will be in place to allow the candidate to progress to a Band 8a, over a set period of time, depending on previous experience and successfully meeting set objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible and accountable for the direct provision of a specialist out-patient clinical psychology service, including specialised assessments and the development and delivery of specialised programmes

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a Registered Practitioner Psychologist
  • HCPC Registered, or show evidence that this is being processed - note, must be HCPC registered at the time of taking up post

Desirable Skills

  • Experience teaching, planning or running groups
