Office Assistant
Job description
The Employer is: HOME-START CAUSEWAY. This job involves supporting the Family Support team with administrative tasks related to managing families and volunteers. Many of the tasks will be computer-based, but the post holder will also assist with booking venues, organising events, assisting volunteers and other general office tasks that contribute to the effective day-to-day operations of the scheme. The post holder will need to be computer-literate and be willing to learn to use bespoke software. The post holder will work as part of a team. As a team, they will maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home-Start model. This is a JobStart post and is subject to funding from the JobStart programme. This is not a permanent post.
Responsibilities
- The Office Assistants responsibilities include: Accurate and timely imputing data on CharityLog (a CRM data management system)
- Provide administrative support to assist in the recruitment and support of volunteers.
- Process new applications and referrals.
- Assist with event planning.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist with feedback to refers and with communication with stakeholders through the preparation of reports and case studies as required.
- Assisting with general office duties.
- The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Education/qualifications A good standard of Education - GCSE, QCF level 3 or equivalent Relevant secretarial/ IT training.
- Secretarial skills and experience, including typing and word processing. Computer literate with good IT skills.
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office suite (Essential demonstrated skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- High standards of practice and presentation at work.
- Good understanding of administrative work and office practice.
- Effective communication skills: written, verbal and telephone.
- Well-organised with good time management.
- Ability to process and collate information.
- Ability to prioritise and undertake planning.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A positive and creative approach to tackling tasks.
- Commitment to good safeguarding practice.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Understanding of the need for professional confidentiality.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Interest in the voluntary sector.

The Employer is: HOME-START CAUSEWAY. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position.
