Trainee Machine Operator


Job description

Train to become a skilled Machine Operator to join our team and contribute to the success of our operations. Operate and maintain various timber processing machinery such as CNC, framing machines, saws, planers and routers ensuring efficient and accurate production. Full training will be given. .

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain various timber processing machinery such as CNC, framing machines, saws, planers and routers ensuring efficient and accurate production.
  • Set up machines according to product specifications including adjusting cutting blades, feed rates and other parameters.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions or deviations from standards and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machines to ensure proper functioning, cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn-out parts to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely completion of orders.
  • Inspect finished timber products for quality including dimensions, smoothness and accuracy then make adjustments as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Report any issues, concerns or improvements related to machinery, processes or safety to the supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience as a Machine Operator or production would be beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work within specified tolerances.
  • Stamina and the ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy timber materials.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of relevant safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Methodical approach when problem solving.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good time management.

Desirable Skills

  • Can use a computer.
  • Can multitask.

Further Information

The Employer is: LOUGHVIEW TIMBER IRELAND Salary: Under 18 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 & over £11.44 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
