Farm Assistant


Job description

This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to work within a farming environment. You will work within a small team assisting in the day to day running of a busy farm. General animal welfare of the stock which would include inspections and observing of health issues.

Responsibilities

  • General animal welfare of the stock which would include inspections and observing of health issues.
  • Ensuring feeding and watering of cattle/sheep across the site.
  • Moving stock across the site when required.
  • General farm duties including good housekeeping practice.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all appropriate information.
  • Working alongside the external vets when required.
  • Operating and maintaining farm equipment and vehicles.
  • Repairing and maintaining farm structures and fences.
  • Adherence to all site health & safety, environmental and technical policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A good basic education which includes GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of animal welfare and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in livestock skills and in dealing with the day to day running of a farm.
  • Qualification in Agriculture.
  • Experience in driving a forklift and operating other similar machinery.

Further Information

The Employer is: FELIX MCEVOY LIMITED. Salary: Under 18 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 & over £11.44 per hour. Although this is a full-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
