Job description
To ensure the hotel guests are provided with excellent and prompt service and to be responsible for serving alcoholic beverages to residents and customers, including mixing cocktails, serving drinks and stocking and cleaning the bar.
Responsibilities
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Welcoming customers at the bar area and asking what they need.
- Fulfilling customer drink orders accurately and promptly.
- Providing room service if required.
- Taking cash or card payments from customers.
- Charging to guest rooms.
- Cleaning the bar, washing glasses and wiping down surfaces.
- Cleaning, prepping and stocking the work place for service & closing up duties after service.
- Keeping the bar stocked by replacing empty bottles and kegs of beer.
- Providing knowledgeable and creative drink recommendations.
- Keeping up to date with the latest drink trends.
- Assist with other duties which provide service excellence to the hotel guest.
- Assist prepare and clear rooms for events if required.
- Security of bar stock.
- Adhering to company policy & procedure.
- Verifying the age and checking the identification of potential customers.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good standard of education.
- Customer care skills.
- Working knowledge of food & beverage products & professional service.
- Service & knowledge of alcoholic, non-alcoholic, hot & cold beverages.
- Service & knowledge of wines, cocktails and speciality coffees.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple requests at the same time.
- Ability to work in a stressful, loud or intimidating environment.
- Practical bartending skills, such as using cocktail shakers or beer taps.
- Confidence and knowledge to apply laws and inhouse rules even when under pressure.
Desirable Skills
- L2 apprenticeship in hospitality & catering (food & beverage services).
- Minimum 6 months' work experience of similar 4-star hotel.
- Minimum 6 months' work experience of bar and floor service.
- Knowledge of wines and wine service with the ability to upsell.
- Knowledge of cocktail making & service with the ability to upsell.
- Mixology or hospitality qualifications.
- Creative skills to mix new drinks or suggest new pairings.
- L2 award in the principles of customer service in HLTT.
- L2 NVQ diploma in food & beverage service.
- L2 food hygiene.
- L2 health & safety at work.
