We are seeking a laboratory technician for our client in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the fast-paced water microbiology department..

Responsibilities

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols
• Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols
• Training and operation of relevant equipment
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
• Accurate Data entry into laboratory database
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Effective communication with all employees
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory
• Any other duties as required by the post

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
• Comfortable working in a busy environment
• Ability to work quickly and accurately

Desirable Skills

• Full driving licence
• A level, BTEC or Leaving Certificate Qualification in a science related subject
• Laboratory experience
• Experience of culture of microorganisms
• Knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025)
