Assistant Manager/ Leader


Job description

The Deputy supports the Manager in leading Children’s Lane, ensuring a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment. They will assist with programme delivery, lead engaging play-based activities, support and mentor staff, and foster positive relationships with children, families and partners. The Deputy will also take responsibility for the setting in the Manager’s absence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting.
  • Lead delivery of the Out of School and Two-Year Programme.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Manager.
  • Supervise, support and mentor staff team.
  • Ensure compliance with HSCT Minimum Standards.
  • Safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • Oversee planning of quality play-based activities.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and external agencies.
  • Maintain health & safety and risk assessments.
  • Promote a nurturing, inclusive and child-centred environment.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • NVQ level 3 in Childcare/Playwork or equivalent (HSCT require level 5 enrolment)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Two years experience working with children aged 2-11 years.
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Full clean Uk driving license (required for use of a company car)
  • Child protection and safeguarding training or willingness to obtain.

Desirable Skills

  • Level 5 childcare qualification or higher.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities and special educational needs.
  • Relevant supervisory/management experience.
  • D1 (minibus) entitlement desirable. Company-funded D1 training is available to the successful candidate.
  • Level 3 Forest School training or willingness to obtain.
  • Good organisational skills.

Further Information

Working Hours: 35 hours per week. Additional hours to be worked flexibly during school holiday periods. Term Time Hours Include. Breakfast Club 7:30 am to 9:00 am Monday to Friday. Two-Year Programme 9:00 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday toThursday. After-School Club 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Hours may vary to meet the operational needs of the setting.
