Trainee Dental Nurse


Job description

The employer is: LISBURN ROAD DENTAL CARE. Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions..

Responsibilities

  • Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order.
  • Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available.
  • Ensure the care and welfare of patients.
  • Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed.
  • Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies.
  • Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal etc.
  • Process and file radiographs.
  • Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery.
  • Ask the designated person to order new stock supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored.
  • Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings.
  • Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (perhaps including the duties and tasks of receptionist as required).
  • Undergo training as may be required to develop skills and abilities.
  • Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR.
  • Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct.
  • Work at other practice locations from time to time as required.
  • Full dental nursing support in line with strict compliance & cross infection control regulations.
  • Stock control & helping patients improve their oral health.
  • Decontamination of reusable instruments, environmental cleaning and management of clinical waste.

Essential Skills

  • Candidates must have is a flexible & positive work ethic & enjoying being a team player. You will join a welcoming and friendly team, working with dentists practicing a varied mix of all types of treatments.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Work in a professional environment.
  • Follow practice policies and procedures.
  • All candidate will require a vaccination for hepatitis B and a satisfactory Enhanced Access NI check. We can assist with obtaining these.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
  • Computer skills.

Further Information

The employer is: LISBURN ROAD DENTAL CARE. Although this is a full time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
