Job description
To assist the Cook and Assistant Cook in the preparation of nutritional meals to meet the needs of the residents, within the Christian ethos of the Council for Social Witness..
Responsibilities
- To assist the Cook/Assistant Cook with food preparation
- To clean and tidy kitchen areas including shelves, drawers and cooker
- To assist with the preparation of snacks (tea, sandwiches, suppers) etc.
- To arrange for the laundry of cloths, napkins and tea towels etc
- Serve food
- Take rubbish to bins
- Clean and tidy work areas
- Clean floors, tiles and appliances
- Wash dishes
- To clean and tidy dining room, setting up tables for meals and trays where appropriate
- Prepare vegetables
- To maintain records as required

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Evidence and understanding of and respect for the needs of older people
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience of catering outside a domestic setting
- Committed to working within the Christian ethos of the Home
