To assist the Cook and Assistant Cook in the preparation of nutritional meals to meet the needs of the residents, within the Christian ethos of the Council for Social Witness..
Responsibilities
- To assist the Cook/Assistant Cook with food preparation (cooking and baking).
- This job description is intended to be neither definitive nor restrictive and can be changed or augmented at any time to meet changing needs.
- To cook meals on a relief basis as and when required.
- To serve food.
- To take rubbish to bins.
- To clean and tidy work areas.
- To clean and tidy kitchen areas including shelves, drawers and cooker.
- To clean floors, tiles and appliances.
- To wash dishes.
- To assist with the preparation of snacks (eg. tea, sandwiches, suppers) etc.
- To prepare vegetables.
- To clean and tidy dining room.
- To carry out any other reasonable duty as required by the management of the Home, which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home.
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment.
- Experience of catering outside a domestic setting.
- Committed to working within the Christian ethos of the Home.
