Job description

Active Youth NI is a new and thriving community interest company. Our mission is to transform a generation of young people’s physical, social, and mental wellbeing by providing access, opportunity and vital skills through delivery of physical activity within the school setting and through holiday camps. We offer a variety of programmes and need a Physical Activity Coach to join us in delivering in-school sessions and after school sessions. All Active Youth NI sessions are non-sport specific to encourage accessibility and inclusion for all, we are passionate about taking a holistic approach to young people’s physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing through our sessions. .

Responsibilities

  • To deliver coaching sessions that are participant-centred, structured, progressive, fun and of a high quality.
  • To undertake the necessary planning for each activity session in line with Active Youth NI programmes and demonstrates progression.
  • Continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities, and programmes.
  • Adapt sessions to cater for different ranges of ability and development age.
  • Be a positive role model to children and young people within your care and ensure that their well-being and safety are always considered.
  • Ensure all equipment associated with the coaching programme is correctly set up, maintained, stored, and returned on completion of the coaching programme.
  • Be familiar and comply with Active Youth NI health and safety regulations and to undertake or update activity/venue risk assessments prior to sessions, and report and record incidents/accidents/hazards.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Must hold a level 2 sports coaching qualification - any sport or dance accepted.
  • Must have experience working with children and young people.
  • Build relationships with schools and liaise with them to ensure they remain happy with the coaching service provided.

Desirable Skills

  • Child Protection / Safeguarding Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND
