Trainee Receptionist


Job description

The Employer is: JORDANSTOWN SCHOOL. This is an exciting opportunity to join the administration team in a busy school for children who are vision impaired and or deaf. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the school and will be part of a supportive and friendly team. The role will involve a wide range of administrative duties, with training and mentoring provided by experienced staff. This will include reception duties - interacting with children, parents, staff and professionals both in person and by phone. Other duties will include, creation of documents, dealing with incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining the School’s filing system, and supporting School staff in the day-to-day running of a busy school. This role provides a great opportunity to experience work in a school setting and to develop your skills across a wide range of areas. The role offers an attractive working pattern 9am - 2pm each day and good terms and conditions including an attractive contributory pension scheme. .

Responsibilities

  • To carry out reception duties effectively and professionally, via face to face, email and telephone contact.
  • Deal with incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Photocopying.
  • Filing.
  • Submit requisitions as appropriate for school resources.
  • Provide support to School staff.
  • Any other duties as directed by the School Principal and Board of Governors/Trustees.

  • Be literate and numerate.
  • Willingness to undertake training and to develop new skills in response to identified need and the development of the school.

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate using different methods, with effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to promote and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage a diverse workload and to effectively prioritise competing demands.
  • The ability to represent the school with a wide range of audiences.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Further Information

The Employer is: JORDANSTOWN SCHOOL. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
