The Employer is: NORTH DOWN CRICKET CLUB. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Cricket Coach. This role involves delivering Kwik Cricket sessions in primary schools, collaborating with other coaches, and providing coaching support for girls' cricket teams at North Down Cricket Club. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cricket, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children and young athletes..

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver fun and engaging Kwik Cricket sessions in primary schools within the local community. Work closely with school staff to schedule sessions, coordinate facilities, and promote participation in cricket among students.
  • Provide age-appropriate coaching and instruction to primary school children, focusing on developing fundamental cricket skills and fostering a love for the game.
  • Collaborate with other community cricket coaches to organise and deliver joint coaching sessions, tournaments, and events.
  • Share coaching resources, ideas, and best practices with other coaches to enhance the quality of cricket programming in the community.
  • Foster a positive and supportive coaching environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.
  • Provide coaching support for girls' cricket teams at North Down Cricket Club, including training sessions and matches. Work closely with the girls' cricket coordinator and other club officials to plan and organise coaching activities.
  • Develop players' cricket skills, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning to help them reach their full potential as athletes.
  • Take responsibility for coaching one of the girls' teams at North Down Cricket Club during matches and tournaments. Provide guidance, encouragement, and strategic direction to players during matches to maximise their performance and enjoyment.
  • Ensure matches are conducted in a safe and respectful manner, adhering to all relevant rules and regulations.
  • Summer camps and other schemes to deliver cricket to the local community and other activities to support the club in its day to day activities.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Recognized coaching certification (e.g., NCCP, UKCC, ASCA) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of coaching principles, methodologies, and best practices across various sports.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective training programs and resources.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of coaches and athletes.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn new skills around cricket operations and assist in other areas of the club when required.

Desirable Skills

  • Passion for promoting cricket participation, particularly among girls, and fostering a positive sporting culture.
  • Coaching certification or relevant qualifications in cricket coaching preferred.
  • Valid drivers licence and access to transportation for travelling to schools and cricket club venues.

Further Information

Location: North Down Cricket Club/Local Schools. The Employer is: NORTH DOWN CRICKET CLUB. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
