Community Confidence Coordinator


Job description

BSCR wish to appoint a Community Confidence Co-ordinator who is proactive, motivated and enthusiastic in their approach to develop and deliver initiatives as a response to the needs identified in the BSCR community area. The successful candidate will work closely with the local community, statutory agencies and voluntary organisations to prevent and address the impact of incidents, crime and anti-social behaviour upon communities and individuals. To increase community connectedness & engagement, facilitate community consultations and co-ordinate events that contribute to BSCR’s long term strategy for Sandy Row to be a place where people want to live, work, visit and invest. The post holder of this role will be proactive, motivated and enthusiastic in their approach to develop and deliver initiatives as a response to the needs identified in the BSCR community area. The post holder will work with colleagues across the wider South West Belfast area developing appropriate strategies that contribute to the area and organisational response to the Neighbourhood Renewal Social Renewal Crime Strategy..

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek opportunities for funding through writing project proposals and networking.
  • Work with colleagues to develop and support the delivery of youth diversionary projects
  • Participating as the organisational representative to the SW Area Partnership and other external partner organisations relevant to the post and in particular to the prevention and response to crime

  • Support residents through crime prevention initiatives/projects
  • Work within the community and liase with statuary agencies in regards to the Bonfire Initiative

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Paid or voluntary experience of working with young people and/or disadvantaged groups.
  • Have experience on the delivery of community development programmes
  • Experience of working successfully with communities and people who have experienced deprivation is essential to the post.
  • Experience in project coordination, building collaborative relationships, communication and presentation skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of developing and implementing innovative and creative projects or services to meet needs
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for: Word processing, Financial management, E-mail, Internet and social media.
  • Knowledge of SW Belfast community challenges and opportunities relating to BSCR vision and purpose.
