Job description

The post holder will deputise for and assist the Lead BMS. They will be responsible for ensuring the efficient day to day running of a section within Biochemistry utilising the resources available and to implement senior management decisions relating to department and trust policy. He/she will also take direction from the Laboratory Service Managers and Clinical Leads on day-to-day matters relating to all aspects of UKAS accreditation and patient and staff safety in the laboratory service. .

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest scientific standards are maintained and contribute to the improvement of technical and scientific standards within the department.
• Assist in the setting up, monitoring and maintenance of quality control procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist in a relevant discipline
• Minimum 3 years post registration experience at Band 6 level in Clinical Biochemistry
