Job description

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient day to day running of a number of sections within Microbiology utilizing the resources available and to implement senior management decisions relating to department and trust policy. He/she will also take direction from the Laboratory Service Managers and Clinical Leads on day-to-day matters relating to all aspects of UKAS accreditation and patient and staff safety in the laboratory service. .

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate laboratory investigations, interpretation, resolution, documentation and reporting of results.
• Participate in any Microbiology related validation/verification projects.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Minimum of three years experience in microbiology at Band 6 level or above.
• Current registration as a Biomedical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Desirable Skills

• Managerial experience.
• Chartered Scientist
