Education in Arts Specialist
Job description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Education in Arts Specialist to join our team at Hazel Wand. As an Education in Arts Specialist, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing arts education programs that inspire creativity, foster cultural enrichment and promote lifelong learning. You will work collaboratively with educators, artists and community partners to develop innovative curriculums, facilitate engaging workshops and classes, and provide guidance and support to students of all ages and backgrounds..
Responsibilities
- Curriculum development: Design and develop arts education curricula that align with educational objectives, standards and best practices. Tailor curriculum to the specific needs and interests of diverse student populations.
- Instruction and facilitation: Deliver dynamic and interactive arts education sessions, workshops and classes that engage students and foster their artistic expression, critical thinking and collaboration skills.
- Mentoring and support: Provide mentorship, guidance and support to students, helping them develop their artistic talents, explore their creative potential and navigate career pathways in the arts.
- Collaboration and partnership: Collaborate with educators, artists, schools, community organisations and cultural institutions to integrate arts education into broader educational initiatives and promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Resource development: Create and compile resources including lesson plans, instructional materials and multimedia resources to support arts education programs and enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Assessment and evaluation: Develop assessment strategies and tools to measure student learning outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of arts education programs. Use data to inform program improvements and ensure continuous quality enhancement.
- Community engagement: Engage with parents, caregivers, families and the broader community to promote the value of arts education and advocate for its inclusion in school curricula and extracurricular activities.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Previous experience working in arts education, teaching or community engagement.
- Strong understanding of arts education pedagogy, curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering creativity, cultural enrichment and lifelong learning through arts education.
Desirable Skills
- Any qualification relevant to arts education.
- First Aid qualification.
Further Information
The Employer is: HAZEL WAND THEATRE SCHOOL Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
