As a Visual and Digital Media Theatrical Designer, your role would encompass several key responsibilities related to integrating visual and digital media elements into theatrical productions. Your role would be to harness the power of visual and digital media to create immersive and unforgettable theatrical experiences that engage and captivate audiences. Collaboration with production teams: You would collaborate closely with directors, producers, set designers and other members of the production team to conceptualize and execute visual and digital media elements that enhance the overall storytelling and artistic vision of the production. Conceptualization and design: Your role would involve conceptualizing and designing a range of visual assets including digital projections, animations, graphics and multimedia presentations. You would use your creative skills to bring the director's vision to life and create captivating visual experiences for the audience. Graphic design and branding: You would be responsible for creating graphic assets such as posters, logos and promotional materials to market and brand the production. Your designs would help create a cohesive visual identity for the production and attract audiences. Digital projection design: You would design and produce digital projections and visual effects that are seamlessly integrated into the set design and stage environment. Your projections would enhance the scenic design, create atmospheric effects and contribute to the overall ambiance of the production. Technical integration and operation: You would work closely with technical teams to ensure the smooth integration and operation of digital media equipment and software during rehearsals and performances. This would involve coordinating with lighting designers, sound engineers and stage managers to synchronize visual and digital media elements with other technical aspects of the production. Research and innovation: You would stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in digital media design and projection mapping. You would explore innovative techniques and approaches to enhance the visual impact of theatrical productions and push the boundaries of creative expression. Communication and collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration are essential aspects of the role. You would need to communicate your design ideas clearly to the production team and be open to feedback and input from others. Collaboration with fellow designers and technical staff is key to ensuring the successful execution of visual and digital media elements..

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Strong artistic skills including graphic design, animation and video production.
  • Experience with projection mapping and digital media integration in theatrical settings preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for storytelling through visual and digital media.

Desirable Skills

  • Qualification or experience in graphic design, digital media, theatre or related field.
  • Proficiency in digital media software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D or similar programs.

Further Information

The Employer is: HAZEL WAND THEATRE SCHOOL Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
