Summary of role: As an Accounts Assistant / you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate processing of supplier invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with company procedures..
Responsibilities
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy, service completed, and get internal approval.
- Enter invoices into the accounting system with attention to detail and code to the correct nominal.
- Match invoices with purchase orders/purchase contracts and receipts to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare BACS & cheque payments to vendors, ensuring adherence to payment terms and deadlines.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with vendors to address payment-related inquiries
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
- Identify and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of accounts payable processes.
- Monitor, book & ensure compliance of fleet vehicles with relevant road safety regulations.
- Provide support to the business to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.
- Monitor levels of fuel and office consumable supplies and liaise with suppliers to organise timely delivery.
- Provide support for the wider finance/admin team as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- More than 2 years' experience in Accounts Payable.
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable principles, processes, and best practices.
- Proficient with MS Excel and Accounting software packages.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills
- Book-keeping & Payroll experience would be an advantage.
