Summary of role: As an Accounts Assistant / you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate processing of supplier invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with company procedures..

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify invoices for accuracy, service completed, and get internal approval.
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system with attention to detail and code to the correct nominal.
  • Match invoices with purchase orders/purchase contracts and receipts to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare BACS & cheque payments to vendors, ensuring adherence to payment terms and deadlines.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with vendors to address payment-related inquiries
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of accounts payable processes.
  • Monitor, book & ensure compliance of fleet vehicles with relevant road safety regulations.
  • Provide support to the business to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor levels of fuel and office consumable supplies and liaise with suppliers to organise timely delivery.
  • Provide support for the wider finance/admin team as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • More than 2 years' experience in Accounts Payable.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Proficient with MS Excel and Accounting software packages.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable Skills

  • Book-keeping & Payroll experience would be an advantage.
