Job description

This is a substantial and challenging post which will require dynamic leadership and excellent communication skills. This post revolves around provision of advocacy support, assisting people intending to make a complaint and/or supporting them through a formal complaint process. Or acting as Independent Public Advocates to support Service Users and/or families involved in Serious Adverse Incident Reviews (SAI’s). It will also contribute to providing a powerful and independent voice for the public so that health and social care services are shaped by people and communities. This role will require a high level of skill to creatively engage with service users, relevant stakeholders and to work across multi-disciplines and agencies at both strategic and operational levels. The individual will have a high level of credibility as an expert in their field and will be required to show tenacity and have the ability to transfer critical analysis into practical working solutions as well as political awareness and sound judgement. .

Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be a member of the PCCs Executive and Leadership Teams reporting to the Head of Operations and will manage three Service Managers with a cohort of twenty six staff.
  • Formulate and lead on a long term strategic plan to advance the delivery of independent advocacy services. This will include seeking systems changes, influencing legislation, policy, funding and amplifying the service users voice.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Hold a professional social work qualification recognised by the NISCC AND Be on the NISCC Register or eligible for registration on Part 1.
  • Have three years experience in working with service users, which demonstrates advocacy skills in supporting resolution to complex challenges and concerns.

Desirable Skills

  • Has acted as an Adult Safeguarding Champion or Designated and/or Investigating Officer for Adult Safeguarding
