Job description

The appointed person will teach English to A Level with General Subjects. They will be required to adhere to the general duties and responsibilities contained within the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987. .

Responsibilities

• To teach English throughout KS3, KS4 and A Level.
• To act as a form teacher with pastoral care duties.
• To teach Learning for Life and Work / Personal Development programme.
• To lead and deliver extra-curricular actives within the school.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A teaching qualification as approved by the Department of Education (NI).
• An honours degree or equivalent in which English is a major component.
• A clear knowledge and understanding of curricular requirements for English and English Literature at KS3 and GCSE.

Desirable Skills

• A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in which English is a major component.
• A minimum of 6 months experience in delivering English up to GCSE.
