Job description

To be responsible under the direction of the Principal/Bursar and SEN Co-ordinator or as a member of a team as may be employed for the provision of assistance to Teachers/classroom assistants in/outside school with care of pupils. Maternity Cover Post starting September 2024- April 2025..

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils with toileting/personal hygiene/dressing including the use of basic toileting aids.
• Ensuring the safe mobility and general supervision of the pupils within school premises, including the playground and on school outings, transporting pupils belongings.
• Accompanying teachers, classroom assistants and/or therapy staff with groups on outings or in respect of individual/group therapy programmes, e.g. swimming, educational outings, hydrotherapy etc.
• Ensure appropriate care and feeding of pupils at meal times.
• Ensure pupils comply with normal school rules and routines during the school day.
• Cleaning equipment connected with daily activities in classroom and assisting with the setting out of the equipment as directed.
• Such other duties as may be assigned within the level of the post. Those duties will include carrying of school bags and equipment and assisting with utilising the school lockers.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• GCSE Mathematics and English (Grades A-C) or equivalent.

Desirable Skills

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant childcare qualification.
• NVQ Level III in Childrens Care Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification.
• Evidence of relevant training courses attended in special educational needs.
• First aid certificate.
