Job description
To be a member of a team providing comprehensive ionising radiation protection services to HSC and other organisations in N. Ireland. To act as a Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology and to provide expert scientific advice and support to Radiology and other departments throughout Northern Ireland, ensuring that imaging equipment and techniques using X-rays are optimised. To initiate developments and undertake research in these fields..
Responsibilities
- To have responsibility for equipment quality assurance and patient dosimetry services to X-ray departments as agreed and participate in the general work of the service.
- To initiate, plan and introduce innovative techniques for the evaluation, commissioning and quality control of diagnostic X-ray imaging equipment and for the assessment of patient doses in diagnostic radiology.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A minimum of a 2nd class Honours degree, or equivalent, in Physics or other appropriate science subject.
- Certification as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology or achievement within 12 months of appointment
