Job description
Work as part of the laboratory team, facilitating the Northern Ireland Public Health Laboratory in technical and practical aspects to deliver a comprehensive Food, Environmental and Water service. Support the laboratory’s accreditation to BS EN ISO 17025 in its role as an Official Control Food Testing Laboratory, directed and supervised by senior laboratory staff..
Responsibilities
- Facilitate workflows within the NIPHL team, ensuring good lines of communication for smooth delivery of service through teamwork in laboratory processes and procedures.
- Liaise with the section head in relation to daily workload. After appropriate training and competency assessment, process samples for microbiological examinations, using automated equipment where applicable.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to work conditioned hours to cover a 24 hour service to include an extended working, overnight, weekends & bank holiday as required.
- 2 GCSE's (Grades A-C /9-4) in Maths and English or equivalent PLUS 2 years relevant laboratory experience. OR 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C/ 9-4) including Maths and English or equivalent PLUS 1 years relevant laboratory experience. OR NVQ level 3 or equiva
