Trainee Environment Worker
Job description
As a Trainee Environment Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives within our organisation. Working under the guidance of experienced environmental professionals, you will assist in a variety of tasks aimed at protecting natural habitats, promoting eco-friendly practices, and raising awareness about environmental issues. Responsibilities
- Fieldwork assistance.
- Participate in field surveys, biodiversity assessments and environmental monitoring activities.
- Assist in habitat restoration projects including tree planting, invasive species removal and erosion control measures.
- Community engagement.
- Support the organisation of community events, workshops and educational programs related to environmental conservation.
- Engage with local residents, schools and community groups to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable behaviours.
- Data collection and analysis.
- Collect and collate environmental data using a variety of tools and techniques such as GPS devices, field notebooks and data loggers.
- Assist in analysing collected data and preparing reports to document findings and trends.
- Policy and advocacy support.
- Stay informed about environmental policies, regulations and best practices at local, national and international levels.
- Contribute to the development of advocacy materials and campaigns to support environmental protection efforts.
- Project coordination.
- Provide logistical support for environmental projects including coordinating volunteer activities, scheduling equipment and transportation, and ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Research and development.
- Assist in literature reviews, background research and data synthesis to support the development of environmental management plans and strategies.
- Contribute innovative ideas and suggestions for improving environmental sustainability practices within the organisation.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Passion for environmental conservation and sustainability with a strong commitment to protecting natural resources.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and inspire positive change.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain, and ability to perform physical tasks as required.

Further Information
The Employer is: LIGONIEL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
