Job description

To provide professional and technical advice, guidance and recommendations, line management responsibilities and to carry out all the functions associated with the delivery of the Council’s responsibilities and statutory functions in respect of Planning..

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of the development management/plan function ensuring that applications are progressed in accordance with the objectives set out in the Planning Business Plan.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree in a Planning related subject (eg Town Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning).
  • A minimum of two years' relevant professional and technical planning experience working in a planning environment. OR
  • Alternatively consideration will be given to candidates who do not possess the required educational qualifications but can demonstrate a minimum of four years' relevant professional and technical planning experience working in a planning environment.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK0 and access to a vehicle that will enable the postholder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
  • The nature of the post may require flexible working, for example outside normal office hours including evening meetings and weekends as required.

Desirable Skills

  • Degree in a Planning related subject (eg Town Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning) and a minimum of three years' relevant professional and technical planning experience working in a planning environment. OR
  • A minimum of five years' relevant professional and technical planning experience working in a planning environment.
  • Member of RTPI/Irish Planning Institute or equivalent.
