Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Knowledge of PTO driven or LIVE vehicle hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of 24-volt vehicle electrical systems.
• At least one years post qualification experience in vehicle maintenance.
• A valid Category C driving licence
• OR If Category C not held, then Category B is required as a minimum with a commitment to obtaining a Category C licence within 12 months of joining. The Council will provide support for this under the Councils Learning Training & Development Policy.
• A driving assessment and a practical mechanical knowledge test will form part of the selection process.
• Appointment will be subject to completion of a medical questionnaire including a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol Screening.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of municipal vehicles.
• At least one years post qualification experience in heavy vehicle maintenance.
• A valid category C and E driving licence.
• A Driver Qualification Card.
