Trainee Youth Support Worker


Job description

The Employer is: CLIFTONVILLE COMMUNITY REGENERATION FORUM. Trainee youth support worker will be part of Cliftonville Community Regeneration Forum (CCRF) Youth Work Team and will assist the Youth Work Team to ensure the successful facilitation and coordination of youth work services across the Cliftonville and Girdwood Community Hub Area for young people aged 7-25 years of ages. Assisting in the day-to-day delivery of youth work including centre based, street work, specialist interventions. All successful candidates will undertake various relevant training courses to prepare them for employment as a Youth Support Worker. .

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and co-designing of programmes with young people to meet identified needs.
  • Encourage active participation of young people in the design, review of youth work programmes and the impact of on their development.
  • To support sessions across CCRF projects as required, this will include full flexibility as inclusive of evening, weekend and during school holidays and will occasionally include residential work.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the wider community and a range of external partners.
  • Provide information and direct support to young people on the streets.
  • Support, challenge and educate young people on inappropriate/risk taking behaviour.
  • Be a role model for young people and present a positive 'can do' attitude and encourage young people to broaden their horizon.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, with particular reference to safeguarding, codes of conduct, health and safety, equality and diversity, to ensure all activities are accessible.
  • Assist with administration within the project, including effective record keeping and session reports.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Project Coordinator within the level of the post.
  • Represent CCRF positively and effectively in all dealings with internal colleagues and external partners.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 1 years experience in a youth work setting.
  • Youth Work Level 2 (or equivalent) or working towards.
  • Strong commitment to young people and ability to engage and build positive relationships.
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting young people.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding and how these relate to children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Further Information

The Employer is: CLIFTONVILLE COMMUNITY REGENERATION FORUM. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
