Job description

The successful candidate will work in our kitchen at City Life Centre as a Chef. They will learn to cook breakfast options such as a fry and omelettes etc. They will also learn to create various lunch options such as daily specials which includes chicken curry, roast dinners and chicken stacks etc. The successful candidate will also be trained in baking desserts such as cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake and other desserts. The successful candidate will be put through courses such as Health & Safety in the Workplace and Food Hygiene certificate. The successful candidate will learn to cook within a team structure gaining new skills in working within a busy kitchen environment..

Responsibilities

• Kitchen prep - Switching on all appliances and preparing the kitchen for the schedule ahead.
• Menu creation - Coming up with ideas for dinner options and daily specials.
• Cooking breakfasts, lunches, daily specials and desserts.
• Wiping down and cleaning kitchen at the end of the day.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Must enjoy cooking.
• Must be able to stay calm under pressure.
• Must work well within a team environment.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have the ability to follow instructions from Head Chef.

Desirable Skills

• Any experience working in a kitchen environment would help but is not essential.
• Any experience working as part of a team would be desirable.

Further Information

The Employer is: CITY LIFE PROJECTS. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
