Relief Kitchen Assistant - Trinity (TH-24-14)
Job description
To assist the Cook and Assistant Cook in the preparation of nutritional meals to meet the needs of the residents, within the Christian ethos of the Council for Social Witness. .
Responsibilities
- To assist the Cook/Assistant Cook with food preparation. To serve food. To take rubbish to bins. 4. To clean and tidy work areas
- To clean and tidy kitchen areas including shelves, drawers and cooker. To clean floors, tiles and appliances. To wash dishes.
- To clean and tidy dining room. Setting up tables for meals and trays where appropriate. To arrange for the laundry of cloths, napkins and tea towels etc To maintain records as require
- To carry out any other reasonable duty as required by the management of the Home, which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents.
- STAFF MUST USE THE EQUIPMENT PROVIDED IN THE CARRYING OUT OF THEIR DUTIES In carrying out the duties of Kitchen Assistant, the person will require the following: To be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
- To comply with all CSW policies and procedures as required To have integrity, honesty and patience. To have an understanding of the needs of the elderly in a nursing/residential home situation.
- To have an even temperament. To have an ability to work as a member of the caring team. To have an ability to treat residents as individuals and tolerate their likes and dislikes.
- To respect the authority and direction of the senior members of Staff in the Home.

- To assist with the preparation of snacks (eg. tea, sandwiches, suppers) etc.
- To prepare vegetables.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home;
- Committed to working within the Christian ethos of the Home.
