Health Development Support Worker


Job description

This role will be located in Grosvenor Community Centre, a busy community, leisure, health and sports centre. The organisational ethos is to improve quality of life and contribute to the overall wellbeing and advancement of Belfast. The role will require a willingness to be flexible and undertake additional hours to reflect the programming needs. The centre supports a wide range of health development programmes and services including sports, mental health support services, physical development programmes, healthy eating, horticulture and environmental health planning. Facilities include a 3G full size football playing field (external), sports hall, community garden, parks, play zones, gym and family support hub. This role will be located across a number of the health services and will include the post holder developing skills to grow projects, spanning health programmes for children, youth service and summer provision. The role is varied and will see the post holder gaining valuable learning in areas such as funding, strategic planning, action planning and project marketing. The post holder will also liaise directly with a number of sports teams including in football, soccer, netball, basketball and trampoline. The post holder will be aiding teams to advance by providing support in areas such as marketing, social media and assisting their strategic development. The post holder will benefit from training associated to group growth and vital skills in community development. The role will contribute to a high-quality team which operates across a 7 day week provision. This role entails providing parents, families and the wider community with a high-quality service, providing a warm, friendly and inclusive environment. The role will also see the post holder contributing to the strategic growth and planning of projects. The post holder will also help to future proof the facilities and buildings to align with growing health and sporting projects needs. .

Responsibilities

  • Working across sporting and health projects to assist in marketing and promotion.
  • Working directly in project activities including across a Summer Scheme programme, linked to development of health programmes.
  • Willingness to undertake overtime as and where required to reflect programming needs and growth.
  • Assisting in monitoring and evaluating processes development (new) across all projects.
  • Undertaking regular training on monitoring and evaluation, ICT and operational planning.
  • Assisting in administrative duties linked to quality recording, aiding partnership across teams and through the health programme.
  • Assisting in innovative programme plans for activities - Focused on capacity building.
  • Working to provide a clean and safe environment, internally and externally.
  • Undertaking training as and where required.
  • Engaging in team development (group-based) activities.
  • Participating in staff development and strategic planning activities.
  • Undertake administrative duties using ICT including Microsoft Excel and Word, training will be provided.
  • Working as part of a team to provide diverse activities linked to health and wellbeing.
  • Working with a number of statutory partners to further the vision of improved health and wellbeing.
  • Working alongside the Distillery Street initiative to develop an urban healthy living space.
  • Working with a number of age ranges and developing specific new additional programmes for older persons.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Voluntary or paid experience in a childcare or community development setting.
  • Basic customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake training.
  • Commitment to children's development.

Desirable Skills

  • The organisation intends to fully train up the successful applicant in further ICT skills, health and safety, emergency procedures and administrative training as well as training in childcare, early years development and family support.

The Employer is: GROSVENOR COMMUNITY CENTRE/RODEN STREET COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
