Job description

This role will be located in Grosvenor Community Centre, a busy community, leisure, health and sports centre. The organisational ethos is to improve quality of life and contribute to the overall wellbeing and advancement of Belfast. The role of Caretaker Maintenance Officer is a crucial front of house role and will provide a positive experience and first meeting for user groups and individuals as well as ensuring all health and safety, risk and insurances processes are adhered to. The role will contribute to the organisations ethos of providing top quality services and experiences for all user groups and individuals. The position of Caretaker Maintenance Officer entails ensuring the facility and grounds are ready for use, post and pre project. The post holder will provide a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable first experience to individuals and groups using the community centre. The role will involve meeting and greeting, directing users to the appropriate areas and providing information as well as managing telephone and online queries. Further to this, the role will include administrative and booking system duties (full training provided). The organisation is busy and provides a diverse range of services from early years to health and wellbeing. The post holder will be responsible for supporting a wide range of people including sporting teams and health programmes. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all persons are greeted in a welcoming and helpful manner which compliments the organisational ethos of improving quality of life, by provision of top-quality services, programmes, facilities and experience..

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking hourly risk assessments (with training provided).
  • Supporting sports teams' development and engaging in Sports Development Forum.
  • Undertaking incident recording (with training provided).
  • Undertaking training for health and safety, emergency management, fire risk, evacuation procedures, manual handling and administrative functions.
  • Answering telephone queries via a mobile system linked to external 3G booking (training provided).
  • Assisting in monitoring of online queries via existing platforms.
  • Ensuring all areas are prepared for use including equipment monitoring, storage, replenishment and repair reporting.
  • Directing new and existing user groups and individuals to programme spaces.
  • Supporting with front of house queries.
  • Updating booking systems for the 3G playing field (training provided).
  • Supporting overall building health and safety.
  • Undertaking ground checks and overseeing bookings for community garden programming.
  • Undertaking risk assessments and communicating issues to centre management.
  • Supporting opening of facility spaces where required (including outdoor playing field).
  • Undertaking training as and where required.
  • Key holding duties may be required.
  • Participating in staff development and strategic planning activities.
  • Undertake administrative duties using ICT including Microsoft Excel and Word (training will be provided).
  • Undertake booking duties using organisation booking system (training will be provided).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Basic ICT skills.
  • Basic customer service abilities.

Desirable Skills

  • The organisation intends to fully train up the successful applicant in further ICT skills, health and safety, emergency procedures and administrative training will be supplied.

The Employer is: GROSVENOR COMMUNITY CENTRE/RODEN STREET COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. 16/17yrs £5.28, 18/20yrs £8.40, 21 and over £11.44 per hour.
