Job description

The Employer is: RDA CAUSEWAY COAST & GLENS. To provide a variety of essential animal care / yard & stable cleaning / arena & paddock maintenance / equipment and tack cleaning to aid the smooth running of RDA Causeway Coast and Glens. .

Responsibilities

• The general care of our horses and their environment.
• The cleaning and maintenance of stables, barns, arenas & paddocks.
• Ensuring standards of safety, cleanliness are maintained and monitored throughout the premises.
• Breakfast feeds for horses and daily mucking out of stables.
• Replenishing food, water and shavings on a daily basis for lunch & evening feeds
• Following feed regimes and veterinary instruction as necessary.
• Making up hay nets daily.
• Cleaning duties to maintain hygiene standards in the stables and other areas.
• Convey rubbish from the stables and yard to the appropriate central refuse area as required. Put out and bring in bins in conjunction with waste collection days.
• Empty yard dung barrels.
• General cleaning duties of the stables, yard and buildings - and viewing galleries for the outdoor arena and indoor arena.
• Litter picking.
• Maintenance of grass areas, turnout and paddocks as required, drinkers etc.
• Apply grit/rock salt in times of snow and frost to ensure pathways, car parks and entrances are free from snow and ice. Clear pathways of snow.
• Ensure tack and equipment are kept in good condition, used and stored correctly.
• Preparation of both arenas for bookings, events and other purposes to include setting up and taking down and rotation of jumps, cleaning outside toilet block etc.
• Jump maintenance and repair as necessary.
• Keeping both stable areas tidy, sweeping, raking & watering.
• Regularly checking and maintenance of fields and other areas where horses may be turned out.
• Turning out and bringing in horses.
• Ensure any necessary paperwork associated with the job is completed.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have previous experience with horses.
• Must be hard working and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be self motivated and able to work on own initiative.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to change.

Desirable Skills

• Previous cleaning experience of an industrial building.
• Previous experience in a cafe setting/catering.
• Catering qualification.
• Tractor Driving licence.

Further Information

The Employer is: RDA CAUSEWAY COAST & GLENS. Although this is a part-time/ full time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
