Classroom Assistant
Job description
The Employer is: MARION CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the lead teacher in creating a positive and productive learning environment for students. You will assist in various classroom activities, provide one-on-one support to students, and contribute to the overall well-being and development of the students. .
Responsibilities
- Support Classroom Activities: Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities. This includes preparing materials, setting up equipment, and organising learning resources.
- Provide Individualised Support: Work closely with students, including those with special needs, to provide individualised assistance and support as directed by the lead teacher.
- This may involve helping students with assignments, clarifying instructions, or offering additional explanations.
- Supervise Students: Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment by supervising students during class activities, transitions, and breaks. Help reinforce classroom rules and discipline as needed, in line with school policies.
- Assist with Assessments: Support the lead teacher in assessing student progress and performance. This may include administering tests, grading assignments, and recording grades under the guidance of the lead teacher.
- Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the lead teacher and other classroom assistants to ensure smooth coordination and implementation of classroom activities.
- Communicate regularly with the lead teacher to provide updates on student progress and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Support Classroom Management: Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment. Help implement strategies for classroom management and student engagement as directed by the lead teacher.
- Perform Administrative Tasks: Assist with various administrative tasks such as maintaining student records, preparing classroom materials, and organising educational resources.
- Any other duties the centre may require on a daily basis.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and equipment as needed.
- Ability to assist students with mobility and physical activities as required.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable.
Further Information
The Employer is: MARION CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
