Medical Receptionist
Job description
Carry out reception, telephone and clerical duties competently and efficiently. Provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other health personnel. Receive, assist and direct patients in a courteous, efficient and effective manner. Provide general assistance to the surgery team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors either in person or on the telephone..
Responsibilities
- Receive and direct patients consulting with the surgery team
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and visitors at reception
- Explain surgery arrangements adhering to protocols
- Ensure telephones are answered
- Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail
- Book appointments for patient ensuring sufficient information is recorded to identify patient/medical needs.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent.
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Keyboard Skills; computer Literacy; Experience of Microsoft Office Package.
Desirable Skills
- Relevant experience in an administrative role within a Healthcare setting e.g. GP Surgery, Hospital or Community Pharmacy.
- Experience in Emis Web desirable but not essential.
Further Information
This job is initially 16 hours (2 days a week) with these hours increasing to 32 hours (4 days a week) from June 2024. This job is a temporary contract to cover a maternity leave however could result in a permanent post. Requirements of the job would be to work between the hours of 8.30am-6.00pm Monday-Friday. Location: Richhill Health Centre, Richhill, County Armagh.
