Job description

Aid the MLA in drafting speeches, preparing responses to lobbies and making submissions to consultations. Draft press statements for the MLA. This list of duties is not to be regarded as exclusive or exhaustive. The employee is required to be flexible and to undertake such other duties as may reasonably be assigned. .

Responsibilities

  • Aid the MLA in drafting speeches, preparing responses to lobbies and making submissions to consultations.
  • Draft press statements for the MLA.
  • Ongoing political analysis, monitor media coverage and news developments.
  • You will be required to attend meetings and contribute political advice to the MLA.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) and 5 years experience in a press / speech writing role or at least 8 years relevant experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work consistently and under pressure, independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines
  • Awareness of current affairs, cultures, and politics
  • Ability to grasp varied and complex issues, react swiftly to changing circumstances, manage information and communicate effectively
  • Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of Sinn Féin party policies and politics
  • Competent in IT with excellent word processing skills

Desirable Skills

  • A working knowledge of Gaeilge
