Marketing & Events Assistant


Job description

Ulster Wildlife is Northern Ireland’s largest, local nature conservation charity. We are seeking a Marketing & Events Assistant who will work within the Fundraising and Communications team. The person appointed will support our fundraising, marketing and communications function helping the charity to raise its profile, and engage with its members and key audiences. The appointee will assist the team on a range of range of marketing activities from event management and membership stewardship to fundraising campaigns, creating social media content and undertaking research. Training to build on existing skills will be provided to enable the post holder to use event management software, Content Management Systems (Drupal website), Facebook Business Manager suite, email marketing systems, design software, marketing analytic tools, Google analytics and other reporting tools. Training will be on-the-job and via online learning..

Responsibilities

  • Assist with membership, public and fundraising events through research, planning, administration, promotion, evaluation, and provide hands-on event support where necessary. This will include the use of event management and email marketing software.
  • Undertaking daily administrative tasks to support the Fundraising & Communications team including membership data entry, preparing membership packs and postage, dealing with shop orders and researching recruitment venues.
  • Supporting fundraising/engagement campaigns through donor data entry work and assisting in implementation.
  • Support stakeholder communications through scheduling and updating content on our website and social media channels and under guidance, create new content including news, blogs, promotions, jobs and events.
  • Monitor and manage feedback, survey and undertake other market research as required.
  • Undertake and use marketing analytics and other tools to gather data allowing for effective communication and fundraising. This will include the use of Loomly, Google Analytics, media software and other packages.
  • Create marketing literature (graphics, flyers, emails) to engage with our supporters and potential supporters. This will include the use of Canva and Mailchimp.
  • Adhere to the policies and practices of Ulster Wildlife at all times and respect the policies and practices of project partners.
  • Play an active role in fundraising for Ulster Wildlife e.g. through promoting membership.
  • Identify and implement Learning & Development processes.
  • Co-operate with and support volunteers and where appropriate supervise them.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Ensure that contact with others is of a style and quality consistent with Ulster Wildlife's ethos.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Basic experience of using marketing analytic platforms is ideal and experience of using a range of social media channels is required.
  • Knowledge of publishing platforms and website content management systems is preferable but the role will help you develop these skills through practical application and training.
  • A high level of spoken and especially written English is required, as are great communications skills including the ability and willingness to engage with a wide range of people.
  • Good IT skills with good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • A willingness and desire to learn new skills, welcome supervision and advice.
  • Enjoy working as part of a small team, but also on own initiative without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and work to often reactive deadlines.
  • An interest in nature and wildlife.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working or volunteering in the Marketing, PR, Fundraising or Communications sectors, gained within the last 2 years.
  • Good understanding of marketing and communications principals.
  • Well organised with a supporter-orientated approach.

Further Information

The Employer is: ULSTER WILDLIFE. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
