Traffic Management Engineer / Designer


Job description

This job involves helping us design Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Schemes for a range of clients ranging from the utilities sector to the event industry. This involves identifying the type of traffic management required, creating CAD drawings using BrisCAD / Cone 11 software and then obtaining permits for the works from the Highways Authority. This is part of the function of our 24/7 Traffic Control Centre in Belfast..

Responsibilities

  • You will identify suitable methods of traffic management; Give and take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, portable traffic signals, Road closures, Lane closures and diversions.
  • You make sure all work is designed according to safe working methods and best practice procedures.
  • You will carry out risk assessments for each location when designing the scheme.
  • You will ensure that all activities associated with the job are carried out according to laid down procedures where possible.
  • You will liaise with technical engineers from our clients (civil construction etc) to ensure we enable all their requirements.
  • You will work within the industry codes of practice and legal requirements (TSRGD, Chapter 8 etc).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Be able to read and understand plans.
  • Have excellent computer IT skills.
  • Be able to work well by yourself and within a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Full valid UK driving licence (3.5t) with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Have experience in some sort of CAD platform use, ideally Briscad / Cone 11.

Further Information

The Employer is: THE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COMPANY. Salary: £11.50 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
