Nursery Assistant - Summer Relief
Job description
As a Summer Relief Nursery Assistant you will be supporting the childcare team in the delivery of programmes for children attending the nursery whilst providing them with a safe, motivating, caring and child-centred environment. You will ensure all activities meet the appropriate policies and procedures and follow, at all times, the roles and responsibilities and professional conduct set out by the nursery. .
Responsibilities
- To organise a range of activities that will be stimulating to the children.
- To look after the basic needs of all children at the nursery.
- To maintain health and safety procedures and a high level of hygiene at the nursery.
- To ensure that any food, drinks or bottles for children with allergies are prepared correctly and given correctly.
- To be involved in developing a partnership with the parents of the children at the nursery.
- To work in partnership with colleagues and be a valued team member within the nursery.
- To provide a warm, secure relationship with the children which will encourage emotional and social growth and self-expression.
- Report any accidents/incidents involving a child, immediately to the Nursery Manager.
- To assist the supervision and care of the children within the unit.
- To ensure confidentiality of information relating to the children and families and staff is upheld at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to a quality child centred environment.
- A good level of understanding of children's individual needs.
Desirable Skills
- QCF Level 2 Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development (or equivalent).
- Certificate in Child Protection Training.
- High scope experience.
- Have worked with children in a day nursery setting.
- Have worked with children between the ages of 0-7.
- Valid Paediatric First Aid.
