Kitchen Assistant
Job description
Roar and Explore is a soft play area with a busy café. They will work alongside our Chef to prepare high quality food for our customers. Our menu varies from breakfast paninis to club sandwiches, to lasagne and dirty chips. To ensure the kitchen is kept spotlessly clean and tidy at all times. Washing utensils, pots, pans and chopping boards. .
Responsibilities
- To ensure enough food if prepped in the morning to cope with the busy day ahead. Preparing ingredients including washing and chopping.
- To help the Chef prepare high quality food for customers, as they are ordered.
- To ensure all food is temperature checked before serving.
- To plate up food and ensure it is presentable before serving.
- Sanitising the food preparation areas.
- To ensure the kitchen is kept spotlessly clean and tidy at all times.
- To ensure all kitchen equipment is kept spotlessly clean.
- Washing utensils, pots, pans and chopping boards.
- Sweeping, mopping and emptying rubbish bins.
- To ensure food records are kept up to date.
- Putting deliveries away correctly.
- To ensure stock is rotated to ensure minimal waste.
- Organising food supplies and ingredients.
- To comply with health and safety policies, organisational statements and procedures, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take a proactive approach to health and safety matters in order to protect yourself and others.
- Assisting the Chef and taking directions.
- Any other duties of a similar nature related to this post that may be required from time-to-time.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Previous kitchen work experience.
- Cooking skills ensure you cook food safely and effectively.
- Able to stand for entire shifts.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Teamwork, able to collaborate and work well with others.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Time management and organisational skills.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and relevant Food Hygiene qualifications.
Further Information
The Employer is: ROAR AND EXPLORE. Salary: Under 18 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 & over £11.44 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. The café is the life and blood of the business. We pride ourselves on providing top quality, delicious food at all times. Parents purposely bring their children to Roar and Explore as they know they can get something nice to eat. This opportunity is for someone to work in the kitchen along side our Chef and other Kitchen Assistants. This can be a busy role, particularly on Saturdays and Sundays when children are off school and we can have up to 20 birthday parties all requiring food.
