Responsibilities

• To make sure the vehicle is roadworthy under supervision of manager.
• To make sure the route is planned and mapped out with manager before starting journey.
• To follow health and safety guidelines.
• Transport clients to and from destinations/deaf community/daycare.
• To communicate with customers and meet their various needs.
• Keep records off administrative needs e.g. any programme or events with direction of manager/office for pickups/collections.
• Be able to plan and research for traffic construction and weather delays before journey starts.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Acquire an excellent sense of navigation.
• Keep in mind speeding does not save time.
• Keep alert.
• Understand the road rules and safety guidelines.
• Obey signs and speed limits.
• Be patient and responsible.
• Hold a current clean valid licence and some knowledge of vehicle and general maintenance.
• Some knowledge of safe use of machinery and equipment and able to report any defects or faults.

Further Information

The employer is: SAINT JOSEPH'S CENTRE FOR DEAF. Salary: Under 18 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 & over £11.44 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
