Job description

As a part of The Morning Star front of house team, you’ll demonstrate a keen interest in delivering an extraordinary level of customer service and sharing a great experience with our customers. Your communication skills will be first class and you'll enjoy interacting with customers and work well within a team environment. As part of this role they will support the serving team in the day to day running of all aspects of a busy Belfast city centre bar and restaurant. This role may include working on your own in quieter situations..

Responsibilities

  • Assisting customers with all requirements by offering suggestions and demonstrating great product knowledge at all times.
  • Providing an excellent experience to each customer who visits the bar or restaurant and ensuring that all customer needs are exceeded.
  • Upsell specials and items from our drinks list.
  • Take food and beverage orders and deliver them to the table accurately.
  • Operate cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Process card payments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar and restaurant.
  • Clear tables and ensure they are presentable and reset for customers.
  • Restock supplies and ensure inventory levels are sufficient.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Basic math skills for cash handling and calculating prices and change.
  • Passion for hospitality and providing great service to our guests.
  • Ability to interact with all guests and ability to have fun and engage with customers.
  • Time Management for processing orders efficiently.
  • Communication and social skills for working within a team.
  • Customer Service Skills, interacting, upselling and providing great service.
  • Organisational Skills, seating plan layouts for the day and ensuring that all customers are looked after within the desired time frame requires our team to be on the top of their game with organisation.
  • Active listening and writing skills are important as they are used daily taking orders from customers at their table. Writing skills are essential as they ensure that information is passed on correctly to the bar and kitchen teams.
  • Conflict resolution, our team are trained to be able to deal with difficult customers and situations.

Desirable Skills

  • Strong hospitality skills to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic use of till operation and cash handling.

Further Information

The Employer is: THE MORNING STAR PUBLIC HOUSE LTD. Although this is a full-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Wage: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour. Benefits: Company pension. Discounted or free food.
