Customer Service Trainee


Job description

This is a new opportunity created for the JobStart Scheme with JP Corry Builders Merchants. Over the course of your placement with us, you’ll be based in one of our branches experiencing first-hand the principle of great customer service. As you go, you’ll get to grips with our business, learning about our customers and our products. In the varied role, you will spend time in various departments in the branch and get involved with merchandising stock as it comes in from suppliers. This opportunity is a great way to suss out what you like doing in the branch whether its being outdoors loading customers, in the warehouse, behind the counter serving customers or on the shop floor merchandising. No two days will be the same!.

Responsibilities

  • Interacting with customers and answering queries.
  • Carrying out stock counts.
  • Placing customer orders.
  • Sales.
  • Learn about the products we sell, the importance of teamwork, health & safety and good housekeeping.
  • You will be shadowing colleagues dealing with a number of our customers and with time, be able to offer advice and support.
  • You will learn how to provide great service and will get a chance to work as part of a team.
  • You will develop skills in communication, both face to face and over the phone.
  • After 6 months you can expect to know the basics of merchanting, the importance of health & safety, customer service and our computer system for taking customer orders and payment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of using a forklift truck is desirable but not essential.

Further Information

The Employer is: JP CORRY Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
