Job description

The Employer is: THE MAGIC KINGDOM DAY NURSERY. To work closely with our Nursery Assistants to provide a caring environment for the children with additional needs in the setting. To ensure children are engaged through varied and stimulating activities and to support the management in providing a stimulating and varied programme of play, to enhance each child's abilities and in a way which always ensures the safety and wellbeing of the children. Responsibilities

• Assist in the needs of children with additional needs.
• Help prepare the areas where the children are on a daily basis.
• Ensure the children's safety at all times.
• Greet and welcome all children and parents.
• Assist at children's mealtimes, offering help where needed.
• Help provide and take part in all of the day care activities.
• Listen to, encourage, enable, and stimulate all the children as part of a team.
• Ancillary associated duties (e.g. cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are cleared and cleaned, removal of litter from all areas used for the consumption of food including packed lunches, etc).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• An interest in the care, learning and development of young children.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with parents.
• Flexibility including the ability to cope with changing needs and demands.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrable evidence of having an ability to work well with children.
• Demonstrable evidence of having an ability to work as part of a team (this may be in a formal/informal environment).
• Ability to provide a customer and child focused approach.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Willingness to undertake job related training.

Desirable Skills

• Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare qualification.
• Safeguarding certificate
• First Aid Certificate
• Have experience of working with children in a formal environment (e.g. school, nursery, playgroup).
