This JobStart opportunity will provide a young person (aged 16-24 years) who is not in employment with experience in supporting the management of an effective and efficient administration and communication support service. The experience gained in this role will increase knowledge, skills and attitudes required for employability in a wide range of industries. This role will be required to support our administration duties in the Fermanagh, Omagh and Tyrone region giving you exposure to a variety of settings. The ideal candidate is expected to behave in a professional manner at all times and adhere to YouthAction charter of expected behaviours. .

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring records and documents are secure and kept up to date, producing letters and reports.
  • Monitoring and responding to any queries or management tasks.
  • Collating and maintaining records of communication on local membership network and membership engagement, along with other information required for the Charity.
  • Developing and sustaining an effective filing system to ensure safe storage and confidentiality.
  • Answering phone calls and providing responses to people who use our services.
  • Liaise with Management to ensure smooth operation of all duties.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Belfast regional office.
  • Supporting youth action events with practical booking and wider admin support.
  • Assisting in the preparation of information, reports, and applications, when required.
  • Working closely with the Youth Start Workers in the Belfast region to achieve a standard of excellence in all duties.
  • Supporting the production and co-ordination of communication materials on behalf of the Charity.
  • Supporting with the distribution of communication materials both internal to the Charity and to the public.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be reasonable and necessary for the effective operation of the programme delivered by the Charity.
  • As well as 'on the job' training, the opportunity to undertake a relevant training course/qualification may be available under the JobStart scheme.
  • As part of the requirements of the JobStart scheme, an internal mentor at YouthAction will meet the Administration and Communications personnel monthly during the duration of the role, to agree and review a personal training plan (PTP).
  • Set learning goals, assist with CV development, and job search support for career progression.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Possess a sound knowledge of ICT skills and social media skills.
  • An effective and confident communicator.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in the charity/youthwork sector.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in an administration role, and familiarity with office equipment.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office Packages - particularly Excel and Word.

Further Information

The employer is: YOUTH ACTION NORTHEN IRELAND. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. Wage: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour.
