Job description

The Medical Director will provide medical leadership and contribute to the strategic development of the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS) and will be a member of the NIBTS Senior Management Team. They will provide professional advice to the Chief Executive and Agency Board on medical issues relating to the services provided by NIBTS. They will have a key role in developing medical leadership and ensuring ownership of new strategies and policies and of ensuring excellent communications between medical staff and the management team. They will be professionally accountable to the Director of Public Health, PHA and the Chief Medical Officer for medical professional regulation within the service. Responsibilities

• The Medical Director is a member of the NIBTS Senior Management Team and will attend meetings of the Agency Board to advise the Board on medical matters relevant to the business of the Agency.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
• Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
• Be a Consultant or equivalent with a minimum of five years' experience at this grade.
