Warehouse Operative


Job description

The job entails working as part of a small, efficient team in both goods in and despatch for customers and suppliers. Stock control will be a main element of the job..

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for keeping stock well organised and tidy.
  • Complete physical cycle counts of warehouse stock daily.
  • Identify discrepancies and investigate root cause.
  • Update computer records inline with stocktake.
  • Identify areas of improvement in regard to stock control.
  • GRN components into computer system on arrival and put away in correct place.
  • Pick components inline with pick list and prepare for delivery.
  • Put returned stock back in the correct place and update computer system.
  • Ensure warehouse stock is kept organised and tidy.
  • Assist with pick and pack during busy warehouse periods.
  • Assist with unloading and loading containers when required.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace.
  • Be aware of ISO 9001, ISO 18001 and ISO 14001 Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the method of operation in your area of responsibility.
  • Undertaking any/all tasks assigned by manager to ensure targets are met.
  • Providing cover for colleagues as and when required.
  • Implement improvements which have been agreed with your manager.
  • Observe all company rules, Standard Operating Procedures and company policies particularly in relation to health and safety, harassment, disciplinary and ICT security.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • GCSE Mathematics and English or equivalent at grade C or above (or equivalent work experience).
  • Competent in the use of IT Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Keen eye for detail to ensure any imperfections are noticed.
  • Strong English oral skills.
  • Proven ability to follow health and safety procedures.

Desirable Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience in a stores/warehouse environment.
  • Experience of using IT stock systems (although training will be provided).
  • Valid forklift/telehandler licence.
  • Willing if required, to undertake a CRB check.

Further Information

The Employer is: CONEEN PROTECTION. Salary: Under 18 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 & over £11.44 per hour. Although this is a full time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
