To provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention service for children referred to the Children’s Learning Disability Psychology service. Responsibilities

  • To provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention service for children referred to the Childrens Learning Disability Psychology service
  • To provide a specialist psychology service in the context of multidisciplinary teams
  • To manage a caseload effectively, prioritising clinical work for referred patients
  • To liaise with professional colleagues on psychological assessment and intervention in relation to children referred to the service

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Honours degree in Psychology
  • Doctoral level qualification or equivalent in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
  • Registration with Health and Care professions Council (HCPC) by time of appointment Trainee Clinical Psychologists due to qualify are eligible to apply and must be registered with HCPC by the time of appointment
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and therapy of clients across a range of care settings
  • Direct applicants for the 8a post (non-preceptorship) must demonstrate: A minimum of eighteen months post-qualification clinical experience This must include working with children/young people or with people who have a Learning Disability

We welcome applications for this Band 7/8a Clinical Psychologist preceptorship opportunity within the South Eastern Trust Children’s Learning Disability Psychology Service. We also welcome applications from Trainees or newly qualified Clinical Psychologists and those who are already currently working in a Band 7 position and do not yet meet criteria for the 8a position. We will provide a comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Program that will allow the candidate to progress to a Band 8a, over a set period of time, depending on previous experience and meeting certain competency based milestones/objectives. We will also accept applications for direct entry into Band 8A Specialist Clinical Psychologist post within the service.
