Job description

The Deputy Pre-School Leader will support the Leader in the day to day running of Jack and Jill Pre-School to ensure safe and stimulating learning through play in a caring and welcoming environment..

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall safety and wellbeing of the children.
• Assisting the leader to ensure that planning and preparation is carried out and play activities allow children to experience learning in all areas of the pre-school curriculum.
• Carrying out regular observations and make assessments of each child's needs along with other staff.
• Ensure the setting is appropriately laid out and is tidied up after the session ends and good standards of hygiene followed.
• Engaging parents in their children's learning and keeping them informed on progress.
• Liaising with the management committee and attending meetings.
• Attending relevant, ongoing training courses and evening meetings.
• Following GDPR guidelines regarding data.
• Undertaking book-keeping duties.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• QCF Level 5 Diploma in Children's Learning & Development or working towards it.
• Two years experience working with children in an early years setting (0-5 years old).
• ICT skills, Microsoft word documents.
• Experience of observations, planning, recording and evaluations.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of NI Pre-School Curricular Guidelines.
• Experience of Trust Inspections.
• Paediatric First Aid.
• Safeguarding/Child Protection Training.
• Food hygiene.
