Deputy Pre-School Leader
Job description
The Deputy Pre-School Leader will support the Leader in the day to day running of Jack and Jill Pre-School to ensure safe and stimulating learning through play in a caring and welcoming environment..
Responsibilities
- Ensure overall safety and wellbeing of the children.
- Assisting the leader to ensure that planning and preparation is carried out and play activities allow children to experience learning in all areas of the pre-school curriculum.
- Carrying out regular observations and make assessments of each child's needs along with other staff.
- Ensure the setting is appropriately laid out and is tidied up after the session ends and good standards of hygiene followed.
- Engaging parents in their children's learning and keeping them informed on progress.
- Liaising with the management committee and attending meetings.
- Attending relevant, ongoing training courses and evening meetings.
- Following GDPR guidelines regarding data.
- Undertaking book-keeping duties.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- QCF Level 5 Diploma in Children's Learning & Development or working towards it.
- Two years experience working with children in an early years setting (0-5 years old).
- ICT skills, Microsoft word documents.
- Experience of observations, planning, recording and evaluations.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of NI Pre-School Curricular Guidelines.
- Experience of Trust Inspections.
- Paediatric First Aid.
- Safeguarding/Child Protection Training.
- Food hygiene.
